Culpeper County Land Zoning

Culpeper County Land Zoning

Recently, the Board unanimously denied proposed ordinance amendments that would have affected property owners in A1(agricultural) and RA(rural area) zoning district's ability to subdivide their properties.  The Board had repeatedly asked the Commission to adopt these amendments, but after a public hearing and a special meeting the Commission recommended denial.  This does not mean the issues will evaporate, and the Commission and Board will be challenged to pursue solutions to the taxes/revenue/managed growth/infrastructure issues.
CCRC therefore strongly recommends citizens regularly attend Board of Supervisors or Planning Commission meetings, or review the agendas, minutes, and decisions online, to stay abreast of developments that could impact their rights as property or business owners.  Board and Commission members are listed on the website, along with their contact information.
NOTE:  This pertains to County residents only.  The Town of Culpeper governs their own zoning ordinances.  CCRC strongly recommends Town residents attend the Council and Planning Commission meetings.  Refer to https://www.culpeperva.gov/government/mayor_and_council/town_council_bios/index.php
